Attendance and Participation Policy

Your participation is a core part of this course. Learning how to collaborate on projects, solve problems together (including through peer programming), and observe how the same question can be approached from multiple perspectives will help you develop insights and skills that would not emerge otherwise.

These are skills that will serve you well in both your professional and personal life. You are allowed up to four absences, no questions asked. In documented emergencies (e.g., illness or family emergencies), additional accommodations may be granted.

Please contact the instructor or GSI as soon as possible and provide the relevant documentation.

Success Tips

We all have different learning types and life can sometimes get in the way. The key is to stay connected and take advantage of the resources available to you.

  • You’re not alone: If something feels challenging, don’t hesitate to ask for help. The teaching team is here to support you.
  • Be proactive: Even if you miss a session, there are many ways to stay involved, submit missed exercises, engage online, or help your group with their project.
  • Take small steps: Progress matters more than perfection. Consistent effort, even in small ways, will help you succeed.
